The Design
Designed in Japan, the chest graphic pairs 「ジュウジュツ」— the Japanese katakana rendering of “Jiu-Jitsu” — with “BJJ,” printed in off-white.

The lettering is hand-drawn in the manga lettering tradition. Tilted characters and extended strokes give the design its deliberately off-balance appearance.

Kuzushi (崩し) is the grappling principle of disrupting an opponent’s balance to create an opening. Here, that idea is applied to the letterforms themselves.

The Design
The SPARS BJJ KATAKANA chest design pairs bold off-white 「ジュウジュツ」—the Japanese katakana rendering of “Jiu-Jitsu”—with BJJ on the chest, hand-drawn in the manga lettering tradition rather than typeset in a standard font. The characters are deliberately off-balance: tilted, with some strokes stretched far beyond their normal length.
